WK 3 EOC: Where Are You Now And Where Are You Going?

After living in Seattle for a decade and have been on tour with a few bands, I live in Las Vegas and currently attending The Art Institute of Las Vegas. I scheduled to graduate in September of 2011 in the bachelors program in audio production. The reason why I decided to get my education in the audio program, I’m inspired to produce music. In order to do that, I wanted to understand the process as a whole so that I can be an efficient producer. Being efficient does include quality recordings, not all music is loved, but it has to sound good for each project to be heard. Having the knowledge of intellectual property will also be beneficial for my future, before attending AI, I really had no idea how important this subject was to the creator of a music piece. I also work as a self-contractor for the Local 720 I.A.T.S.E as a high rigger, AV tech, and as an A1 or A2. This has been a great experience for me, and it’s great to work with so many talented people who are masters of their craft. Every call is different and I like to do what I do with this Local, but I think that there are greater opportunities out there in this field that I’d like to experience. Having a degree I feel has prepared me to be able to be in a better position if these opportunities present themselves to me. In audio production, I’d like to create soundscapes and sound effects for film, and I’d love to create music. I have been building a small editing bay in my home so that I can mix in a proper setting. This will also give me the chance to create my own music. I’m also hoping that my next trip to L.A will open up an doorway for becoming a recording engineer for Santoshia Studios in San Clemente.
